Whoever troubles his own household will inherit the wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart.

This also is a grievous evil: just as he came, so shall he go, and what gain is there to him who toils for the wind?

For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. The standing grain has no heads; it shall yield no flour; if it were to yield, strangers would devour it.

Whoever is greedy for unjust gain troubles his own household, but he who hates bribes will live.

The evil bow down before the good, the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

And about ten days later the Lord struck Nabal, and he died.

Now the name of the man was Nabal, and the name of his wife Abigail. The woman was discerning and beautiful, but the man was harsh and badly behaved; he was a Calebite.

Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “You have brought trouble on me by making me stink to the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites and the Perizzites. My numbers are few, and if they gather themselves against me and attack me, I shall be destroyed, both I and my household.”
