“Therefore I still contend with you, declares the Lord, and with your children’s children I will contend.

Now therefore stand still that I may plead with you before the Lord concerning all the righteous deeds of the Lord that he performed for you and for your fathers.

Arise, O God, defend your cause; remember how the foolish scoff at you all the day!

The Lord will enter into judgment with the elders and princes of his people: “It is you who have devoured the vineyard, the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

Thus says the Lord: “The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness; when Israel sought for rest,

“And in that day, declares the Lord, you will call me ‘My Husband,’ and no longer will you call me ‘My Baal.’
