So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Mount Carmel. And he bowed himself down on the earth and put his face between his knees.

The next day, as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the housetop about the sixth hour to pray.

In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God.

And going a little farther, he fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.

And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,

And when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And behold, there came a voice to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

David therefore sought God on behalf of the child. And David fasted and went in and lay all night on the ground.

Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the Lord until the evening, he and the elders of Israel. And they put dust on their heads.

When Abraham’s servant heard their words, he bowed himself to the earth before the Lord.

Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink, for there is a sound of the rushing of rain.”

“As I live, declares the King, whose name is the Lord of hosts, like Tabor among the mountains and like Carmel by the sea, shall one come.

So Samuel called upon the Lord, and the Lord sent thunder and rain that day, and all the people greatly feared the Lord and Samuel.

He loads the thick cloud with moisture; the clouds scatter his lightning.
