"But what do you think? A man had two children. And having come to the first, he said, 'Child, go, work today in my vineyard.'

He said, "Yes." And when he entered into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, "What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs or taxes, from their sons or from strangers?"

"For the kingdom of heaven is like a certain landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.

So they answered Jesus and said, "We do not know." And He said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.

"But he answered and said, 'I will not,' but later he regretted it and went.

"Hear another parable: There was a certain landowner who planted a vineyard and set a hedge around it, dug a winepress in it and built a tower. And he leased it to farmers and went on a journey.

Tell us, therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?"

It is like a man going away on a journey, having left his house and having given authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper that he should watch.

Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that these were offenders more than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem?

I speak as to wise men; judge for yourselves what I say.

So then, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
