For what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul?

For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, but forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give as an exchange for his soul?

For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's, will save it.

Or what shall a man give as an equivalent for his soul?

For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?

So what fruit did you have then of which things you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.
