And for the second time a rooster crowed. Then Peter remembered the word that Jesus had said to him, "Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times." And when he thought about it, he began to weep.

Jesus said to him, "Assuredly I say to you that on this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times."

But he denied it, saying, "I neither know nor understand what you are saying." And he went outside into the forecourt, and a rooster crowed.

Then he began to curse and to swear, "I do not know this Man whom you are speaking of"

But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are saying!" And immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

And going outside, Peter wept bitterly.

For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, without regret; but worldly sorrow produces death.
