Now at the feast, the governor was accustomed to release to the crowd one prisoner whom they wished.

Now at the feast he would release one prisoner to them, whomever they would request.

Therefore when I have flogged Him, I will release Him."

But they all cried out together, saying, "Away with this Man, and release to us Barabbas"--

"But you have a custom that I should release someone to you at the Passover. Therefore do you wish that I should release the King of the Jews?"
