These all died according to faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off and welcoming them, and confessing that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

For assuredly I say to you, that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and they did not see, and to hear what you hear, and they did not hear."

These things Isaiah said when he saw His glory and spoke about Him.

and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to do.

For by this hope we were saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he already sees?

By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the anger of the king; for he endured as seeing the Unseen One.

And all these, having obtained witness through their faith, did not receive the promise,

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the elect sojourners of the Dispersion of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear;

Beloved, I implore you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from the lusts of the flesh which war against the soul;

And in this we know that we are from the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him.
