which things are symbolic. For these are two covenants: one in fact from Mount Sinai, bearing children into slavery, which is Hagar--
so that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: "I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things having been hidden from the foundation of the world."
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again unto fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."
Now all these things happened to those people as examples, and they were written for our instruction, to whom the ends of the ages have come.
and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they were drinking from that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.
for Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, and is in slavery with her children--
Even so we, when we were minors, were enslaved by the elements of the world.
Stand fast therefore in the freedom in which Christ has made us free, and do not be loaded down again with a yoke of bondage.
considering that even from the dead, God was able to raise him up, from which he also received him in a figurative sense.
and to Jesus, the Mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling which speaks better things than the blood of Abel.
Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the everlasting covenant,
by so much more Jesus has become a surety of a better covenant.
