But those on the rock are they that, whenever they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of testing fall away.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes, both to the Jew first and to the Greek.

Behold then the kindness and severity of God: upon those that fell, severity; but upon you, kindness, if you continue in His kindness. Otherwise you also shall be cut off.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, God was well pleased, through the foolishness of our preaching, to save those that believe.

Now I praise you, brothers, because you remember me in all things, and you hold fast the traditions just as I handed down to you.

And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain and your faith also is vain!

For we are the fragrance of Christ to God among those being saved, and among those perishing.

And working together with Him, we also urge that you not receive the grace of God in vain.

Have you suffered so many things in vain--If indeed they really were in vain?

For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

if indeed you continue in the faith, having been founded and firm and not drifting away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was proclaimed to all creation under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.

So then, brothers, stand fast and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our letter.

who having saved us, and having called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time itself,

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

On account of this we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.

For we have become partakers of Christ, if indeed we hold fast the beginning of the assurance firm until the end,

but Christ was faithful as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the boast of hope firm until the end.

Therefore having a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast the confession.

What does it profit, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Is that kind of faith able to save him?

Thus also that faith, if it does not have works, is dead, being by itself

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
