The spirit stood still,\par but I could not see what it was.\par A shape stood before my eyes,\par and there was silence.\par Then I heard a very quiet voice:\par

Trust the Lord and wait for his help.\par Don’t be upset\par when bad people succeed.\par Don’t be upset\par when bad people make evil plans\par and their plans succeed.\par

\{No matter what happens,\}\par my soul waits patiently\par for God \{to save me\}.\par My salvation comes only from him. {\cf2\super [364]} \par

\{But the Lord is different\}! The Lord is in his holy temple. So all the earth should be silent and show respect in front of the Lord.

Everyone, be quiet!\par The Lord is coming out of his holy house.\par

So they all went to the tomb and made it safe from thieves. They did this by sealing the stone in the entrance and putting soldiers there to guard it.

Then I saw a scroll {\cf2\super [37]} in the right hand of the One sitting on the throne. The scroll had writing on both sides. The scroll was kept closed with seven seals.

And they all sang a new song \{to the Lamb\}:

Then I watched while the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. I heard one of the four living things speak with a voice like thunder. It said, “Come!”

Then I watched while the Lamb opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun became dark like \{black\} cloth made from hair. The full moon became red like blood.

The Lamb opened the second seal. Then I heard the second living thing say, “Come!”

The Lamb opened the third seal. Then I heard the third living thing say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse. The rider on the horse held a pair of scales in his hand.

The Lamb opened the fourth seal. Then I heard the voice of the fourth living thing say, “Come!”

The Lamb opened the fifth seal. Then I saw some souls under the altar. {\cf2\super [51]} They were the souls of those people who had been killed because they were faithful to God’s message {\cf2\super [52]} and to the truth they had received.
