I speak to God, my Rock, {\cf2\super [263]} I say,\par “Lord, why did you forget me?\par Why must I suffer such sadness\par because of the cruelty of my enemy?”\par
The Lord is my Rock, {\cf2\super [97]} \par my Fortress, {\cf2\super [98]} \par my Place of Safety.”\par My God is my Rock.\par I run to him for protection.\par God is my shield.\par His power saves me. {\cf2\super [99]} \par The Lord is my hiding place\par high in the hills.\par
Lord, you are my Rock, {\cf2\super [168]} \par I am calling to you for help.\par Don’t close your ears to my prayers.\par If you don’t answer my calls for help,\par then people will think I am no better\par than the dead people in the grave.\par
My enemy said bad things to me.\par That wicked man yelled at me.\par My enemies were angry and attacked me.\par They brought troubles crashing down on top of me.\par
\{I may have many enemies,\}\par but God is my fortress. {\cf2\super [365]} \par God saves me.\par God is my place of safety\par high on the mountain.\par Not even great armies can defeat me.\par
Again I saw that many people are treated badly. I saw their tears. And I saw that there was no one to comfort those sad people. I saw cruel people had all the power. And I saw that there was no one to comfort the people they hurt.
People of Jacob, this is true!\par Israel, you should believe this!\par So why do you say:\par “The Lord can’t see the way I live.\par God will not find me and punish me.”\par
\{But I say\},\par “Can a woman forget her baby? No!\par Can a woman forget the child\par that came from her body?\par No! A woman can’t forget her children.\par And I (the Lord) can’t forget you.\par
