Hurry, answer me Lord!\par I have lost my courage.\par Don’t turn away from me.\par Don’t let me die and become like\par the dead people lying in the grave.\par
Why? Because the Lord helps poor people who have troubles.\par The Lord is not ashamed of them.\par He doesn’t hate them.\par If people call to the Lord for help,\par he will not hide from them.\par
Lord, you are my Rock, {\cf2\super [168]} \par I am calling to you for help.\par Don’t close your ears to my prayers.\par If you don’t answer my calls for help,\par then people will think I am no better\par than the dead people in the grave.\par
Dead people don’t sing praises to you.\par People in Sheol {\cf2\super [368]} don’t praise you.\par Dead people don’t trust you to help them.\par They go into a hole in the ground,\par \{and never speak again\}.\par
I will not continue fighting forever.\par I will not always be angry.\par If I continued to be angry,\par then man’s spirit\par —the life I gave them—\par would die in front of me.\par
