If a person tries to get what he wants by saying nice things to people, then he is only setting a trap for himself.

You know what people say,\par ‘A man neglects his own children\par to help his friends.’ {\cf2\super [32]} \par But my friends have turned against me.\par

People tell lies to their neighbors.\par Each and every person flatters {\cf2\super [68]} his\par neighbors with lies.\par

That person lies to himself.\par That person does not see his own faults.\par So he does not ask for forgiveness.\par

Those people don’t tell the truth.\par They are liars that twist the truth.\par Their mouths are like empty {\cf2\super [27]} graves.\par They say nice things to other people,\par but they are only trying to trap them.\par

People spread out nets to catch birds. But it is useless to set the trap while the birds are watching.

A person who tells gossip about other people can’t be trusted. So don’t be friends with a person who talks too much.

If you help someone by telling him he is doing wrong, then later he will be happy with you. That is much better than always saying only nice things to people.

The woman used those words to tempt the young man. Her smooth words tricked him.

Then they will protect you from the “other women.” They will protect you from their nice words that can lead you into sin.

The Lord sent fire from above.\par That fire went down into my bones.\par He stretched out a net for my feet.\par He turned me all the way around.\par He made me into a wasteland.\par I am sick all day.\par

“Priests, nation of Israel, and people in the king’s family, listen to me. You have been judged guilty!

People like that are not serving our Lord Christ. They are only doing things to please themselves. They use fancy talk and say nice things to fool the people that don’t know about evil.

You know that we never tried to influence you by saying nice things about you. We were not trying to get your money. We had no greed to hide from you. God knows that this is true.

Saul’s officers said those things to David. But David answered, “Do you think it is easy to become the king’s son-in-law? {I don’t have the money to pay for the king’s daughter!} I am just a poor, ordinary guy.”
