My dear friends, you have always obeyed. You obeyed God when I was with you. It is even more important that you obey now while I am not there \{to help you\}. You yourselves must live in a way that moves you toward your salvation. Do this with respect and fear for God.

We should take away \{from our lives\} anything that would stop us. And we should take away the sin that so easily catches us.

So let us try as hard as we can to enter God’s rest. We must try hard so that none of us will be lost by following the example of those people who refused to obey God.
