“Aaron and his sons must finish covering all the holy things in the Holy Place. [62] Then the men from the Kohath family can go in and begin carrying those things. In this way, they will not touch the Holy Place and die.

I chose the Levite people from among all the people of Israel. And I give them as gifts to Aaron and his sons. I want them to do the work at the Meeting Tent. They will serve for all the people of Israel. They will help make the sacrifices that make the people of Israel pure. Then no great sickness or trouble will come to the people of Israel when they come near the holy place.”

After that, the Levite people came to the Meeting Tent [133] to do their work. Aaron and his sons watched them. They were responsible for the work of the Levite people. Aaron and his sons did the things that the Lord told Moses.

Everything in the tent was made ready in the way I have explained. Then the priests went into the first room every day to do their worship.
