Then I shook out the folds of my clothes. I said, “God will do the same thing to every person that doesn’t keep his promise. God will shake them out of their houses and they will lose everything they worked for! That person will lose everything!”

The king stood by the column and made an agreement with the Lord. He agreed to follow the Lord and to obey his commands, the Agreement, and his rules. He agreed to do this with all his heart and soul. He agreed to obey the Agreement written in this book. All the people stood to {show they supported} the {king’s} agreement.

May the Lord God of Israel\par be praised forever\par as he has been praised forever!\par

Ezra praised the Lord, the great God. And all the people held up their hands and said, “Amen! Amen!” Then all the people bowed down and put their faces low to the ground and they worshiped the Lord.

Your laws are good.\par I promise to obey them.\par And I will keep my promise.\par

You are for evil people if you refuse to obey the law. But if you obey the law, then you are against them.

It is better to promise nothing than to promise something and not be able to do it.

The priest must say, ‘You must drink this water that causes trouble. If you have sinned, you will not be able to have children and any baby you have will die before it is born.’ And the woman should say: ‘I agree to do as you say.’

And if a home or town refuses to welcome you or listen to you, then leave that place. Shake their dust off your feet. {\cf2\super [126]}

So Paul and Barnabas shook the dust off their feet. {\cf2\super [280]} Then they went to the city of Iconium.

But the Jews there would not accept Paul’s teaching. They said some very bad things. So Paul shook off the dust from his clothes. {\cf2\super [363]} He said to the Jews, “If you are not saved, it will be your own fault! I have done all I can do! After this, I will go only to non-Jewish people!”

You might be praising God with your spirit. But a person there without understanding cannot say “Amen {\cf2\super [98]} ” to your prayer of thanks. Why? Because he does not know what you are saying.

Samuel said to Saul, “{You tore my robe. In the same way,} the Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today. The Lord has given the kingdom to one of your friends. This man is a better person than you.
