Jehu the seer {\cf2\super [217]} went out to meet Jehoshaphat. Jehu’s father’s name was Hanani. Jehu said to King Jehoshaphat, “Why did you help evil people? Why do you love those people that hate the Lord? That is the reason the Lord is angry with you.
That person doesn’t respect the people\par that hate God.\par But that person shows honor to\par all the people who serve the Lord.\par If he makes a promise to his neighbor,\par then he does what he promised to do. {\cf2\super [81]} \par
God says,\par “Surely those evil people know the truth!\par But they don’t pray to me.\par Evil people are as ready to destroy\par my people as they are to eat food.”\par
What gives you the right to hurt my people? What gives you the right to push the faces of the poor people into the dirt?” My Master, the Lord All-Powerful said these things.
Those people say that good things are bad, and bad things are good. Those people think light is darkness, and darkness is light. Those people think sour is sweet, and sweet is sour.
Now, the Lord our Master says these things, ‘Those dead bodies are the meat. And the city is the pot. But he (Nebuchadnezzar) will come and take you out of this safe pot!
Listen to me, you cows of Bashan {\cf2\super [48]} on Samaria’s mountain. You hurt poor people. You crush those poor people. You tell your husbands, {\cf2\super [49]} “Bring us something to drink!”
Hate evil and love goodness.\par Bring fairness back into the courts.\par Maybe then the Lord God All-Powerful\par will be kind to the survivors {\cf2\super [70]} \par from Joseph’s family.\par
But to my people,\par they are like an enemy.\par You steal the clothes right off the backs\par of people walking by.\par Those people think they are safe.\par But you \{take things from them\}\par like they are prisoners of war. {\cf2\super [32]} \par
I mean, all of the faithful people are gone.\par There are no good people left\par in this country.\par Every person is waiting to kill someone.\par Every person is trying to trap his brother.\par
People are good at doing bad things\par with both hands.\par Officials ask for bribes.\par Judges take money\par to change their decisions in court.\par “Important leaders” \{don’t make\par good and fair decisions\}.\par They do whatever they want to do.\par
Jerusalem’s leaders are like roaring lions. Her judges {\cf2\super [19]} are like hungry wolves that come in the evening \{to attack the sheep\}—and in the morning nothing is left.
But the people in the kingdom hated the man. So the people sent a group to follow the man to the other country. In the other country, this group said, ‘We don’t want that man to be our king!’
Those people know God’s law. They know God’s law says that people who live like that should die. But they continue to do those wrong things. And they say that people who do those things are doing right.
People in those times will not have love for other people. They will refuse to forgive and will talk about other people to hurt them. People will not control themselves. They will be angry and mean and will hate things that are good.
