Then the leading priests and the older Jewish leaders had a meeting at the palace where the high priest {\cf2\super [393]} lived. The high priest’s name was Caiaphas.
Then the guards took Jesus from Caiaphas’ house to the \{Roman governor’s\} palace. It was early in the morning. The Jews there would not go inside the palace. They did not want to make themselves unclean, {\cf2\super [237]} because they wanted to eat the Passover {\cf2\super [238]} meal.
The soldiers used some thorny branches to make a crown. They put this crown of thorns on Jesus’ head. Then the soldiers put a purple robe around Jesus.
