Now I will tell you about the Lord’s agreement.\par The Lord said to me,\par “Today I become your father! {\cf2\super [4]} \par And you are my son.\par
He was hurt and punished. But he never protested. He said nothing—like a sheep being taken to be killed. He was like a lamb that makes no sound when someone cuts off its wool. He never opened his mouth \{to defend himself\}.
Then the high priest {\cf2\super [216]} stood before all the people and said to Jesus, “These people said things against you. Do you have something to say about these charges against you? Are these people telling the truth?”
The Jewish leaders gathered around Jesus. They said, “How long will you make us wonder about you? If you are the Christ, {\cf2\super [168]} then tell us clearly.”
People said bad things to Christ, but he did not say bad things to them. Christ suffered, but he did not threaten (speak against) the people. No! Christ let God take care of him. God is the One who judges rightly.
