All of those things happened, but Job didn’t sin. Job didn’t say that God did anything wrong.

But robbers’ tents are not bothered.\par People who make God angry live in peace,\par and their own strength\par is their only god!\par

Evil people are spared\par when disaster comes.\par They survive when God shows his anger.\par

Job, come back to God All-Powerful,\par and you will be restored.\par But, you must remove the evil\par from your house.\par

Evil people brag about the things they want.\par And those greedy people curse God.\par In this way, the evil people show that\par they hate the Lord.\par

Our ancestors became hungry in the desert.\par And they tested God in the wilderness.\par

Don’t let me want to do bad things.\par Stop me from joining bad people\par when they do wrong.\par Don’t let me share the things\par those bad people enjoy doing.\par

A wealthy person might really congratulate himself\par on how well he has done in life.\par And yes, even other people might praise him for how well he had done for himself.\par

No, you only think of evil things to do.\par You do violent crimes in this country.\par

Those proud people are wicked,\par but they are rich and getting richer.\par

I saw that wicked people were successful\par I became jealous of those proud people.\par

Then those people decided to test God.\par They asked God for food, just to satisfy their appetites.\par

Again and again those people\par tested God’s patience.\par They really hurt the Holy One of Israel.\par

But they tested God Most-High\par and made him very sad.\par Those people didn‘t obey God’s commands.\par

Your ancestors {\cf2\super [528]} tested me.\par They tested me,\par but then they saw what I could do!\par

Evil people always want to find wrong things to do. But good people have strength that goes deep like roots.

There is something else that happens on earth that does not seem fair. Bad things should happen to bad people and good things should happen to good people. But sometimes bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people. That is not fair.

If you do those sins, do you think that you can stand before me in this house that is called by my name? Do you think you can stand before me and say, “We are safe,” just so you can do all these terrible things?

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, give praise, honor, and glory to the King of Heaven. Everything he does is right. He is always fair. And he is able to make proud people humble!

So King Darius gave the order. They brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den (cage). The king said to Daniel, “I hope the God you worship saves you!”

“That time of judgment is coming. It will be like a hot furnace. All those proud people will be punished. All those evil people will burn like straw. At that time, they will be like a bush burning in the fire—and there will not be a branch or root left.” The Lord All-Powerful said these things.

Herod {\cf2\super [241]} decided a day to meet with them. On that day Herod was wearing a beautiful royal robe. He sat on his throne and made a speech to the people.

Peter said to her, “Why did you and your husband agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! Do you hear those footsteps? The men that buried your husband are at the door! They will carry you out in the same way.”

We should not test the Lord like some of those people did. They were killed by snakes \{because they tested the Lord\}.

For 40 years in the desert your people\par saw the things I did.\par But they tested me and my patience.\par

Young men, I have something to say to you, too. You should accept the authority of the elders. {\cf2\super [32]} All of you should be very humble with each other.
