Jesus and his followers went to Capernaum. {\cf2\super [249]} In Capernaum some men came to Peter. They were the men that collected the two-drachma tax. {\cf2\super [250]} They asked, “Does your teacher pay the two-drachma tax?”

Peter answered, “The other people pay the taxes.”

The people that live now are living in a sinful and evil time. If any person is ashamed of me and my teaching, then I {\cf2\super [104]} will be ashamed of that person. I will be ashamed of that person at the time I come with the glory of my Father and the holy angels.”

I tell you the truth. If a person helps you by giving you a drink of water because you belong to the Christ, {\cf2\super [116]} then that person will truly get his reward.

So I tell you that no person that is speaking with the help of God’s Spirit says, “Jesus be cursed.” And no person can say, “Jesus is Lord,” without the help of the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [82]}

The men of Israel wanted to know if these men were telling the truth. So they tasted the bread—but they did not ask the Lord what they should do.
