John went through the whole area around the Jordan River. He told the people \{God’s message\}. John told them to be baptized {\cf2\super [46]} to show that they wanted to change their hearts and lives. Then their sins would be forgiven.

“I baptize {\cf2\super [41]} you with water to show that you changed your hearts and lives. But there is a person coming later that is greater than I am. I am not good enough to take off his shoes for him. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [42]} and with fire.

John will help many Jews return to the Lord their God.

You will make his people know\par that they will be saved.\par They will be saved by having\par their sins forgiven.\par

Jesus returned from the Jordan River. He was full of the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [61]} The Spirit led Jesus into the desert.

These things all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan River. This is where John was baptizing {\cf2\super [20]} people.

So the followers came to John. They said, “Teacher, remember the man that was with you on the other side of the Jordan River? He is the man you were telling people about. That man is baptizing {\cf2\super [53]} people, and many people are going to him.”

Before Jesus came, John {\cf2\super [264]} told \{God’s message\} to all the Jewish people. John told the people to be baptized {\cf2\super [265]} to show they wanted to change their lives.

Paul said, “John told people to be baptized {\cf2\super [379]} to show they wanted to change their lives. John told people to believe in the One who would come after him. That person is Jesus.”

Now, don’t wait any longer. Get up, be baptized {\cf2\super [440]} and wash your sins away. Do this, trusting in him (Jesus) \{to save you\}.’
