John answered everyone, “I baptize {\cf2\super [54]} you in water, but there is a person coming later who can do more than I can. I am not good enough to untie his shoes for him. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [55]} and with fire.

You should have listened to my advice and teaching. I would have told you everything I knew. I would have given you all of my knowledge.

The Lord will wash away the blood {\cf2\super [39]} from the women of Zion. {\cf2\super [40]} The Lord will wash all the blood out of Jerusalem. God will use the spirit of justice \{and judge fairly\}. And he will use the spirit of burning, \{and make everything pure\}.

Then I will test those survivors. I will give them many troubles. The troubles will be like the fire a man uses to prove silver is pure. I will test them the way a person tests gold. He will come ready to clean the grain. {\cf2\super [43]} He will separate the good grain from the straw. He will put the good part of the grain into his barn. And he will burn the part that is not good. He will burn it with a fire that cannot be stopped.”

John answered, “I baptize {\cf2\super [19]} people with water. But there is a person here with you that you don’t know.

That person is the One who comes after me. I am not good enough to untie the strings on his shoes.”

If a person believes in me, rivers of living water will flow out from his heart. That is what the Scriptures {\cf2\super [114]} say.”

John baptized {\cf2\super [3]} people with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [216]} came down on all those people who were listening to his speech.

Jesus was lifted up to heaven. Now Jesus is with God, at God’s right side. The Father (God) has now given the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [37]} to Jesus. The Holy Spirit is what God promised to give. So now Jesus is pouring out (giving) that Spirit. This is what you see and hear.

Some of us are Jews and some of us are Greeks (non-Jews); some of us are slaves and some of us are free. But we were all baptized {\cf2\super [86]} into one body through one Spirit. {\cf2\super [87]} And we were all given {\cf2\super [88]} the one Spirit.
