“The tax collector {\cf2\super [288]} stood alone too. But when he prayed, he would not even look up to heaven. The tax collector felt very humble before God. He said, ‘O God, have mercy on me. I am a sinner!’

The people asked John, “What should we do?”

John said to them, “Don’t take more taxes from people than you have been ordered to take.”
