The person must put his hand on the goat’s head and kill it in front of the Meeting Tent. [20] Then Aaron’s son must sprinkle the goat’s blood on the altar, [21] all around it.
But \{even after he did this,\} all of us wandered away like sheep. We all went our own way. \{We did this after\} the Lord \{freed us from our guilt and\} put all our guilt on him.
The person must put his hand on the animal’s head {while it is being killed}. The Lord will accept that burnt offering as payment to make that person pure. [3]
The person must give part of the fellowship offering as an offering made by fire to the Lord. The person must offer the fat that is on and around the animal’s inside parts.

You have come to Jesus—the One that brought the new agreement {\cf2\super [168]} from God to his people. You have come to the sprinkled blood {\cf2\super [169]} that tells us about better things than the blood of Abel. {\cf2\super [170]}
God planned long ago to choose you by making you his holy people. {\cf2\super [2]} Making you holy is the Spirit’s {\cf2\super [3]} work. God wanted you to obey him and to be made clean by the blood (death) of Jesus Christ. Grace (kindness) and peace be yours more and more.
Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross. He did this so that we would stop living for sin and live for what is right. By his (Christ’s) wounds you were healed.
Christ himself died for you. And that one death paid for your sins. He was not guilty, but he died for people who are guilty. He did this to bring you all to God. His body was killed, but he was made alive in the spirit.
