You heard me say to you, ‘I am leaving, but I will come back to you.’ If you loved me, then you would be happy that I am going back to the Father. Why? Because the Father is greater than I am.
He went up above \{on the high mountain\},\par leading a parade of captives;\par to take the gifts from men, {\cf2\super [394]} \par including the people\par who turned against him.\par The Lord {\cf2\super [395]} God \{went up there\} to live.\par
“Look at my Servant!\par I support him.\par He is the one I chose.\par And I am very pleased with him.\par I put my Spirit in him.\par He will judge the nations fairly.\par
He will suffer many things in his soul, but he will see the good things that happen. He will be satisfied with the things he learns. My Good Servant will make many people not guilty; he will carry away their guilt.
“Here is my servant;\par I (God) have chosen him.\par I love him, and I am pleased with him;\par I will put my Spirit {\cf2\super [166]} on him,\par and he will judge the nations fairly.\par
But if I do the same things my Father does, then you should believe in the things I do. You might not believe in me, but you should believe in the things I do. Then you will know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.”
I tell you the truth. The person that believes in me will do the same things I have done. Yes! He will do even greater things than I have done. Why? Because I am going to the Father.
But I tell you the truth. It is better for you that I go away. Why? Because when I go away I will send the Helper {\cf2\super [223]} to you. But if I did not go away, then the Helper would not come.
Jesus said to her, “Don’t hold me. I have not yet gone back up to the Father. But go to my brothers (followers) and tell them this: ‘I am going back to my Father and your Father. I am going back to my God and your God.’”
This made these Jews try harder to kill him. \{The Jews said\}, “First this man (Jesus) was breaking the law about the Sabbath day. {\cf2\super [80]} Then he said that God is his Father! He is making himself equal with God!”
But I want you to understand this: The head (authority) of every man is Christ. And the head of a woman is the man. {\cf2\super [78]} And the head of Christ is God.
You have not seen Christ, but still you love him. You can’t see him now, but you believe in him. You are filled with a joy that cannot be explained. And that joy is full of glory.
The voice said, “Write in a book all these things you see, and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.”
