I know that the words of my lord the king will give me rest, because you are like an angel from God. You know what is good and what is bad. And the Lord your God is with you.”

{Joab did these things} so that you would see things differently. My lord, you are as wise as God’s angel. You know everything that happens on earth.”

You know God would criticize you\par if you chose a person’s side in court\par simply because he was important.\par

Are you trying to defend God against me?\par You are not being fair—\par You are choosing God's side\par simply because he is God.\par

So I must speak.\par Then I will feel better.\par I must speak and answer Job’s arguments.\par

I can’t treat one person\par better another person!\par If I did that,\par

My heart is honest,\par so I will speak honest words.\par I will speak the truth\par about the things I know.\par

God does not love leaders\par more than other people.\par And God does not love rich people\par more that poor people.\par Why? Because God made every person.\par

God says,\par “How long will you judge people unfairly?\par How long will you let wicked people go free without punishment?”\par \i (SELAH {\cf2\super [473]})\i0 \par

These are the words of wise men:

If you help someone by telling him he is doing wrong, then later he will be happy with you. That is much better than always saying only nice things to people.

“You must be fair in judgment. You must not show special favor to poor people. And you must not show special favor to important people. You must be fair when you judge your neighbor.

“You don’t live the way I told you! You have not accepted my teachings! So I will make you become not important—people will not respect you!”

The Pharisees sent some men to Jesus \{to trick him\}. They sent some of their own followers and some men from the group called Herodians. {\cf2\super [306]} These men said, “Teacher, we know that you are an honest man. We know that you teach the truth about God’s way. You are not afraid of what other people think about you. All men are the same to you.

When you judge, you must not think that one person is more important than another person. You must judge every person the same. Don’t be afraid of anyone, because your decision is from God. But if there is a case too hard for you to judge, then bring it to me and I will judge it.’

You must always be fair. You must not favor some people over other people. You must not take money to change your mind in judgment. Money blinds the eyes of wise people and changes what a good person will say.
