Why do you persecute me like God does?\par Don’t you get tired of hurting me?\par

Maybe you didn’t give water and food\par to tired, hungry people.\par

I was like a father for poor people.\par I helped people I didn’t even know\par win their arguments in court.\par

God, you know that I have cried for people in trouble.\par You know that my heart was very sad for poor people.\par

I always invited strangers into my home\par so they would not have to sleep\par in the streets at night.\par

Evil people might attack me.\par They might try to destroy my body.\par My enemies might try to attack\par and destroy me.\par

Don’t let those people say,\par “Aha! We got what we wanted!”\par Lord, don’t let them say,\par “We destroyed him!”\par

So those bad people hide themselves and wait to kill someone. But really, they will be destroyed by their own trap!

You should feel sorry for hungry people and give them food. You should help the people that are troubled—satisfy their needs. Then your light will shine in the darkness. And you will have no sadness. You will be bright like sunshine at noon.
