“Lord, have you completely rejected\par the nation of Judah?\par Lord, do you hate Zion {\cf2\super [124]} ?\par You hurt us so badly\par that we can’t be made well again.\par Why did you do that?\par We were hoping for peace,\par but nothing good has come.\par We were hoping for a time of healing,\par but only terror came.\par

This is what the Lord says about the palace where the king of Judah lives:

“Egypt, go to Gilead and get some medicine.\par You will make up many medicines,\par but they will not help.\par You will not be healed.\par

But Babylon will suddenly fall\par and be broken.\par Cry for her!\par Get medicine for her pain!\par Maybe she can be healed!\par

A well keeps its water fresh.\par In the same way,\par Jerusalem keeps its wickedness fresh.\par I hear about the looting and violence\par in this city all the time.\par I see the pain and sickness in Jerusalem\par all the time.\par

If my head was filled with water,\par and if my eyes were a fountain of tears,\par I would cry day and night\par for my people that have been destroyed.\par

“I (the Lord) will make the city of Jerusalem\par a pile of garbage.\par It will be a home for jackals. {\cf2\super [75]} \par I will destroy the cities in the land of Judah,\par so no one will live there.”\par

Daughter of Zion, {\cf2\super [18]} \par what can I compare you to?\par What can I compare you to,\par Virgin Daughter of Zion {\cf2\super [19]} ?\par How can I comfort you?\par Your destruction is as big as the sea!\par I don’t think anyone can heal you.\par

“The people in Judah and Israel traded with you. They paid for the things you sold with the wheat, olives, early figs, honey, oil, and balm. {\cf2\super [227]}

The family groups of Reuben and Gad had many, many cows. Those people looked at the land near Jazer and Gilead. They saw that this land was good for their cows.

A woman was there who had been bleeding for twelve years. She had spent all her money on doctors, but no doctor was able to heal her.
