Jeremiah 51:44Easy To Read VersionI will punish the false god Bel {\cf2\super [428]} in Babylon.\par I will make him vomit out the people\par that he swallowed.\par The wall around Babylon will fall.\par And other nations will stop coming\par to Babylon.\par See the chapter |
\{This will happen in the future.\}\par And at that time, you will see your people,\par and your faces will shine \{with happiness\}.\par \{First,\} you will be afraid,\par but then, you will be excited!\par All the riches from across the seas\par will be set before you.\par The riches of the nations\par will come to you.\par
Soldiers around Babylon,\par shout the cry of victory!\par Babylon has surrendered!\par Her walls and towers\par have been pulled down!\par The Lord is giving those people\par the punishment they should have.\par You nations should give Babylon\par the punishment she deserves.\par Do to her what she has done\par to other nations.\par
“Announce this to all nations!\par Lift up a flag and announce the message!\par Speak the whole message and say,\par ‘The nation of Babylon will be captured.\par The god Bel {\cf2\super [407]} will be put to shame.\par The god Marduk {\cf2\super [408]} will be very afraid.\par Babylon’s idols will be put to shame.\par Her idol gods will be filled with terror.’\par
“Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, destroyed us in the past.\par In the past, Nebuchadnezzar hurt us.\par In the past, he took our people away,\par and we became like an empty jar.\par He took the best we had.\par He was like a giant monster\par that ate everything until it was full.\par He took the best we had\par and threw us away.\par
The Lord All-Powerful says:\par “Babylon’s thick, strong wall\par will be pulled down.\par Her high gates will be burned.\par The people of Babylon will work hard,\par but it will not help.\par They will become very tired\par trying to save the city.\par But they will only become fuel\par for the flames.”\par
People from many nations and people that spoke many languages were very afraid of Nebuchadnezzar. Why? Because the God Most High made him a very important king. If Nebuchadnezzar wanted a person to die, then he killed that person. And if he wanted a person to live, then that person was allowed to live. If he wanted to make people important, then he made those people important. And if he wanted to make people not important, then he made them not important.
