Jeremiah 33:9Easy To Read VersionThen Jerusalem will be a wonderful place. People will be happy. And people from other nations will praise it. This will happen at the time those people hear about the good things happening there. They will hear about the good things I am doing for Jerusalem. See the chapter |
\{This will happen in the future.\}\par And at that time, you will see your people,\par and your faces will shine \{with happiness\}.\par \{First,\} you will be afraid,\par but then, you will be excited!\par All the riches from across the seas\par will be set before you.\par The riches of the nations\par will come to you.\par
You will never again be called\par ‘The People that God had Left.’\par Your land will never again be called\par ‘The Land that God Destroyed.’\par You will be called\par ‘The People God Loves.’\par Your land will be called\par ‘God’s Bride.’\par Why? Because the Lord loves you.\par And your land will belong to him.\par
A loincloth is wrapped tightly around a man’s waist. In the same way, I wrapped all the family of Israel and all the family of Judah around me.” This message is from the Lord.” I did that so those people would be my people. Then my people would bring fame, praise, and honor to me. But my people would not listen to me.”
Lord, you are my strength\par and my protection.\par You are a safe place to run to\par in time of trouble.\par The nations will come to you\par from all around the world.\par They will say,\par “Our fathers had false gods.\par They worshiped those worthless idols,\par but those idols did not help them at all.”\par
If you do those things,\par then you will be able to use my name\par to make a promise:\par You will be able to say,\par ‘As the Lord lives.’\par And you will be able to use those words\par in a truthful, honest, and right way.\par If you do these things, then the nations\par will be blessed by the Lord.\par They will brag about the things\par that the Lord has done.”\par
Why do you people want to make me angry by making idols? Now you are living in Egypt. And now you are making me angry by offering sacrifices to the false gods of Egypt. You people will destroy yourselves. It will be your own fault. You will make yourselves something that people of other nations will speak evil of. And all the other nations on the earth will make fun of you.
I will send you down into that deep hole—to the place where dead people are. You will join the people that died long ago. I will send you to the world below, like all the other old, empty cities. You will be with all the others that go down to the grave. No one will live in you then. You will never again be in the land of the living!
