Because of all these things, the Master, the Lord All-Powerful, the Mighty One of Israel, says, “I will punish you, my enemies. You will not cause me any more trouble.

People are afraid and confused. Say to those people, “Be strong! Don’t be afraid!” Look, your God will come and punish your enemies. He will come and give you your reward. The Lord will save you.

The Lord my Master\par is coming with power.\par He will use his power to rule all the people.\par The Lord will bring rewards for his people.\par He will have their payment with him.\par

I said,\par “I worked hard for nothing.\par I wore myself out,\par but I did nothing useful.\par I used all my power,\par but I did not really do anything.\par So, the Lord must decide\par what to do with me.\par God must decide my reward.\par

\{He answers,\}\par “I walked in the winepress {\cf2\super [459]} by myself.\par No one helped me.\par I was angry and I walked on the grapes.\par The juice {\cf2\super [460]} splashed on my clothes.\par So now my clothes are dirty.\par

While I was angry, I walked on people.\par I punished them while I was mad.\par I poured their blood {\cf2\super [461]} on the ground.”\par

“Look, here is a bill that must be paid. \{This bill shows you are guilty for your sins.\} I will not be quiet until I pay this bill, and I will pay the bill by punishing you.

“Your sins and your fathers’ sins are all the same.” The Lord said this, “Your fathers did these sins when they burned incense {\cf2\super [469]} in the mountains. They shamed me on those hills. And I punished them first. I gave them the punishment they should have.”

You will see the things that you truly enjoy.\par You will be free and grow like grass.\par The Lord’s servants will see his power,\par but the Lord’s enemies will see his anger.\par

Look, the Lord is coming with fire. The Lord’s armies are coming with clouds of dust. The Lord will punish those people with his anger. The Lord will use flames of fire to punish those people while he is angry.

Listen! There is a loud noise coming from the city and the temple. {\cf2\super [478]} That noise is the Lord punishing his enemies. The Lord is giving them the punishment they should have.

But I am the Lord,\par and I can look into a person’s heart.\par I can test a person’s mind.\par I can decide what each person should have.\par I can give each person the right payment\par for the things he does.\par

You plan and do great things, Lord. You see everything that people do. You give reward to people that do good things and you punish people that do bad things—you give them what they deserve.

Soldiers around Babylon,\par shout the cry of victory!\par Babylon has surrendered!\par Her walls and towers\par have been pulled down!\par The Lord is giving those people\par the punishment they should have.\par You nations should give Babylon\par the punishment she deserves.\par Do to her what she has done\par to other nations.\par

“Call for the men that shoot arrows.\par Tell them to attack Babylon.\par Tell them to surround the city.\par Don’t let anyone escape.\par Pay her back for the bad things she has done.\par Do to her what she has done\par to other nations.\par Babylon did not respect the Lord.\par Babylon was very rude\par to the Holy One of Israel.\par So punish Babylon.\par

The Lord used all of his anger.\par He poured out all his anger.\par He made a fire in Zion. {\cf2\super [31]} \par That fire burned down Zion\par to its foundations.\par

They will punish you for the wicked things you did. And you will be punished for worshiping your filthy idols. Then you will know that I am the Lord and Master.”

The Lord my Master said, “At that time, Gog will come to fight against the land of Israel. I will show my anger.

Only then will I stop being angry at your people. I will know that they have been punished for the bad things they did to me. And they will know that I am the Lord, and that I spoke to them because of my strong love {\cf2\super [45]} for them!”

“Tyre! Sidon! All of you areas of Philistia! You are not important to me! {\cf2\super [27]} Are you punishing me for something I did? You might think that you are punishing me, but I will soon punish you.

then I will really show my anger! I—yes, I (the Lord)—will punish you seven times for your sins!

The Lord is a jealous God.\par The Lord punishes guilty people.\par The Lord punishes guilty people,\par and the Lord is very angry!\par The Lord punishes his enemies.\par He stays angry at his enemies.\par

The Son of Man {\cf2\super [235]} will come again with his Father’s glory and with his angels. At that time, the Son of Man will reward each person for the things he has done.

Now where are my enemies? Where are the people that did not want me to be king? Bring my enemies here and kill them. I will watch them die!’”

The prophets {\cf2\super [334]} wrote many things about the time when God will punish his people. The time I am telling you about is the time when all these things must happen.

God will reward or punish every person for the things that person has done.

I swear (promise), I will sharpen my flashing sword. I will use it to punish my enemies. I will give them the punishment they deserve.

But the Lord punishes people who hate him. He will destroy them. He will not be slow to punish people who hate him.

The great city split into three parts. The cities of the nations were destroyed. And God did not forget \{to punish\} Babylon the Great. He gave that city the cup filled with the wine of his terrible anger.

A sharp sword comes out of the rider’s mouth. He will use this sword to defeat the nations. He will rule the nations with a rod of iron. He will squeeze \{the grapes\} in the winepress of the terrible anger of God the All-Powerful.
