You have many, many advisers.\par Are you tired of the advice they give?\par Then send out your men that read\par the stars.\par They are able to tell when the month starts.\par So maybe they can tell you\par when your troubles will come.\par

False prophets {\cf2\super [397]} tell lies, but the Lord shows their lies are false. The Lord makes foolish people of the men that do magic. The Lord confuses even wise men. They think they know much, but the Lord makes them look foolish.

That will happen to everything\par that you worked so hard for.\par The people you did business with\par all your life will leave you.\par Every person will go his own way.\par And there will be no one left to save you.”\par

These two things will happen to you:\par First, you will lose your children.\par And then you will lose your husband.\par Yes, these things will really happen to you.\par And all of your magic\par and all of your powerful tricks\par will not save you.\par

“You have worked hard to do these things,\par but you never became tired.\par You found new strength,\par because you enjoyed these things.\par

Some people say, “Ask the fortune tellers and wizards what to do.” (These fortune tellers and wizards whisper and make sounds like birds \{to make people think that they know secret things\}.) \{But I tell you that\} people should ask their God \{for help\}! Those fortune tellers and wizards ask dead people what to do. Why should living people ask something from the dead?

The Lord All-Powerful says:\par “Babylon’s thick, strong wall\par will be pulled down.\par Her high gates will be burned.\par The people of Babylon will work hard,\par but it will not help.\par They will become very tired\par trying to save the city.\par But they will only become fuel\par for the flames.”\par

Then say, ‘In the same way, Babylon will sink. Babylon will rise no more. Babylon will sink because of the terrible things that I will make happen here.’”

“‘\{Jerusalem\} might work hard\par to scrub away her stains.\par But that ‘rust’ won’t go away!\par Only fire (punishment) will remove\par that rust!\par

That very same night, Belshazzar, king of the Babylonian people, was killed.

The Lord All-Powerful has decided that a fire will destroy everything that those people worked to build. All their work will be for nothing.
