After 70 years, the Lord will review Tyre’s case, and he will give her a decision. Tyre will again have trade. Tyre will be like a prostitute {\cf2\super [231]} for all the nations on earth.

People will forget about Tyre for 70 years. (That is, about the length of a certain king’s rule.) After 70 years, Tyre will be like the prostitute {\cf2\super [230]} in this song:

Oh woman that men forgot,\par take your harp and walk through the city.\par Play your song well.\par Sing your song often.\par Then maybe people will remember you.\par

That whole area will be an empty desert. All of those people will be slaves of the king of Babylon for 70 years.

This is what the Lord says: “Babylon will be powerful for 70 years. After that time, I will come to you people that are living in Babylon. I will keep my good promise to bring you back to Jerusalem.

You built your mounds at the head of every road. Then you degraded your beauty. You used it to catch every man that walked by. You raised your skirt so they could see your legs, and then you were like a prostitute {\cf2\super [123]} with those men.

Then you went to Egypt, your neighbor with the big sex organ. You had sex with him many times to make me angry.

\{God said,\} “But you were not exactly like a prostitute. {\cf2\super [126]} You built your mounds at the head of every road and you built your places of worship at every street corner. You had sex with all those men. But you did not ask them to pay you like a prostitute does.

“\{God said,\} ‘Now look! I will slam my hand down and stop you! I will punish you for cheating and killing people.

All her idols {\cf2\super [8]} \par will be broken into pieces.\par Her prostitute’s wages (idols)\par will be burned in fire.\par I will destroy all her statues\par \{of false gods\}.\par Why? Because Samaria got her riches\par by being unfaithful to me. {\cf2\super [9]} \par So those things will be taken by people\par that are not faithful to me. {\cf2\super [10]} \par

The judges in Jerusalem accept bribes\par to help them decide who wins in court.\par The priests in Jerusalem must be paid\par before they will teach the people.\par People must pay the prophets\par before they will look into the future.\par And then those leaders expect the Lord\par to help them. They say,\par “The Lord lives here with us.\par So nothing bad will happen to us.”\par

All this happened because of \{Nineveh\}.\par Nineveh is like a prostitute\par that could never get enough.\par She wanted more and more.\par She sold herself to many nations,\par and she used her magic\par to make them her slaves.\par

Then that land will belong to the survivors {\cf2\super [16]} from Judah. The Lord will remember those people from Judah. Those people are prisoners in a foreign country. But the Lord will bring them back. Then the people from Judah will let their sheep eat the grass in those fields. In the evenings, they will lie down in the empty houses of Ashkelon.

Simon (Peter) has told us how God showed his love for the non-Jewish people. For the first time, God accepted the non-Jewish people and made them his people.

The money earned by a man [146] or woman prostitute must not be brought to the special house of the Lord your God. A person can’t use that money to pay for the things he promised to give to God. Why? Because the Lord your God hates for people to sell their bodies for sexual sin.

He must not drink too much wine, and he must not be a person who likes to fight. He must be gentle and peaceful. He must not be a person who loves money.

In the same way, the men who serve as special helpers {\cf2\super [11]} must be men that people can respect. These men must not say things they don’t mean, and they must not use their time drinking too much wine. They must not be men who are always trying to get rich by cheating others.

take care of the group of people that you are responsible for. They are God’s flock. {\cf2\super [31]} Watch over that flock because you want to, not because you are forced to do it. That is how God wants it. Do it because you are happy to serve, not because you want money.

His judgments are true and right.\par Our God has punished the prostitute. {\cf2\super [144]} \par She is the one who made the earth evil\par with her sexual sin.\par God has punished the prostitute\par to pay her for the blood (death)\par of his servants.”\par
