Isaiah 1:13Easy To Read Version“Don’t continue bringing worthless sacrifices to me. I hate the incense {\cf2\super [8]} you give me. I can’t bear your feasts for the New Moon, {\cf2\super [9]} the Sabbath, {\cf2\super [10]} and your holidays. I hate the evil you do during your holy meetings. See the chapter |
Some people kill bulls \{as a sacrifice\},\par but they also beat people.\par Those people kill sheep as a sacrifice,\par but they also break the necks of dogs!\par Those people offer up grain offerings,\par but they also offer the blood of pigs! {\cf2\super [475]} \par Those people burn incense, {\cf2\super [476]} \par but they also love their worthless idols. {\cf2\super [477]} \par Those people choose their own ways.\par And they also love their terrible idols.\par
The Lord pulled up his own tent {\cf2\super [13]} \par as if it were a garden.\par He has ruined the place where the people\par went to meet to worship him.\par The Lord has made people forget\par the special assemblies\par and special days of rest {\cf2\super [14]} in Zion.\par The Lord rejected the king and the priests.\par He was angry and rejected them.\par
Now, family of Israel, the Lord my Master says these things, “If any person wants to worship his filthy idols, then let him go and worship them. But later, don’t think you will get any advice from me! You will not ruin my name any more! Not when you continue to give your gifts to your filthy idols.”
But it will be bad for you Pharisees! You give God one-tenth of \{everything you own\}—even your mint, your rue, and every other little plant in your garden. But you forget to be fair to other people and to love God. These are the things you should do. And you should also continue to do those other things—\{like giving one-tenth\}.
