Then Gomer became pregnant again and gave birth to a daughter. \{The Lord\} said to Hosea, “Name her Lo-Ruhamah. {\cf2\super [5]} Why? Because I will not show mercy to the nation {\cf2\super [6]} of Israel any more. I will not forgive them.

The Lord rejected all the people of Israel. He brought them many troubles. He let people destroy them. And, finally, he threw them away and put them out of his sight.

The king of Assyria took Samaria during the ninth year that Hoshea was king of Israel. The king of Assyria captured many Israelites and took them as prisoners to Assyria. He made them live in Halah by the Habor River at Gozan and in other cities of the Medes.

The vines will become dry. And the branches will break off. Women will use those branches for firewood.

After Gomer had finished nursing Lo-Ruhamah, she became pregnant again. She gave birth to a son.

I will sow her many seeds {\cf2\super [21]} on her land.\par To Lo-Ruhamah, {\cf2\super [22]} \par I will show mercy.\par To Lo-Ammi, {\cf2\super [23]} \par I will say, ‘You are my people.’\par And they will say to me,\par ‘You are my God.’”\par

I will have no pity on her children because they are the children of prostitution.

The Lord said to me, “Amos, what do you see?”

The Lord my Master is watching\par the sinful kingdom (Israel).\par The Lord said,\par “I will wipe \{Israel\} off the face of the earth.\par But I will never completely destroy\par Jacob’s family.\par

At one time you were not God’s people. But now you are God’s people. In the past you had never received mercy. But now you have received mercy \{from God\}.
