After that Esau hated Jacob because of this blessing. Esau thought to himself, “My father will soon die, and there will be a time of sadness for him. But after that I will kill Jacob.”
You will work hard for your food,
until your face is covered with sweat.
You will work hard until the day you die.
And then you will become dust again.
I used dust to make you.
And when you die
you will become dust again.”
All of Jacob’s sons and daughters tried to comfort him. But Jacob was never comforted. Jacob said, “I will be sorry for my son until the day I die.” [227] So Jacob continued to be sad for his son Joseph.
