Why? Because the law can only bring God’s anger \{when the law is not obeyed\}. But if there is no law, then there is nothing to disobey.

The law came to make people have more sin. But when people had more sin, God gave them more of his grace (kindness).

In the same way, you should see yourselves as being dead to the power of sin. And see yourselves as being alive for God through Christ Jesus.

Sin will not be your master. Why? Because you are not under law. You now live under God’s grace (kindness).

No! We died to (quit living) our old sinful lives. So how can we continue living with sin?

We know that the law {\cf2\super [57]} is spiritual. But I am not spiritual. Sin rules me like I am its slave.

In the same way, my brothers and sisters, your old selves died and you became free from the law {\cf2\super [52]} through the body of Christ. Now you belong to someone else. You belong to the One (Christ) that was raised from death. We belong to Christ so that we can be used in service to God.

Why? Because in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit {\cf2\super [58]} that brings life made you {\cf2\super [59]} free. It made you {\cf2\super [60]} free from the law that brings sin and death.

So the law was our master until Christ came. After Christ came, we could be made right with God through faith.

I hope I will never boast about things like that. The cross (death) of our Lord Jesus Christ is my only reason for boasting. Through Jesus’ death on the cross the world is dead {\cf2\super [80]} to me; and I am dead to the world.

You died with Christ and were made free from the worthless rules of the world. So why do you act like you still belong to this world? I mean, why do you follow rules like these:

Your old sinful self has died, and your new life is kept with Christ in God.

Jesus died for us so that we can live together with him. It is not important if we are alive or dead \{when Jesus comes\}.

So surely the blood of Christ can do much, much more. Christ offered himself through the eternal Spirit {\cf2\super [106]} as a perfect sacrifice {\cf2\super [107]} to God. His blood will make us fully clean from the evil things we have done. His blood will make us pure even in our hearts. We are made pure so that we can worship (serve) the living God.

The Good News {\cf2\super [27]} was told to those people who are now dead, because those people will be judged like all people are judged. They will be judged for the things they did while they were living. But the Good News was told to them so that they could live in the spirit like God lives.
