Elijah used these stones to fix the altar to honor the Lord. Elijah dug a small ditch around the altar. It was wide enough and deep enough to hold about 7 gallons [206] of water.

The entrance to the bottom rooms was on the south side of the temple. Inside, there were stairs that went up to the second floor rooms and from there to the third floor rooms.

Then these Levites stood on the stairs: Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Kenani. They called out to the Lord their God with loud voices.

And you must not make steps leading up to the altar. If there are steps, then when people look up to the altar, they will be able to see under your clothes.”

Then make a frame 1 handbreadth [182] wide around the table. And put gold trim on the frame.

Cover the top and all the sides of the altar with pure gold. And put gold trim all around the altar.

Then the man went to the east gate. The man walked up its steps and measured the opening for the gate. It was one ruler {\cf2\super [314]} wide.

From the ground to the lower ledge, the base measures 2 cubits. {\cf2\super [405]} It was 1 cubit {\cf2\super [406]} wide. It measures 4 cubits {\cf2\super [407]} from the smaller ledge to the larger ledge. It was 2 cubits wide.

“You will take some of the bull’s blood and put it on the altar’s four horns, on the four corners of the ledge, and on the rim around it. In this way, you will make the altar pure.

The priest will take some of the blood from the sin offering and put it on the doorposts of the temple and on the four corners of the ledge of the altar, {\cf2\super [440]} and on the posts of the gate to the inner courtyard.

Then he led me to the inner courtyard of the Lord’s temple. At that place, I saw 25 men bowing down and worshiping. They were between the porch and the altar—but they were facing the wrong way! Their backs were to the Holy Place. They were bowing down to worship the sun!
