The Lord brought me there. There was a man there that looked \{shiny\} like \{polished\} bronze. That man had a cloth tape measure and a measuring rod in his hand. He was standing by the gate.

“\{People use\} a measuring line with a weight \{to show a wall is straight. In the same way\}, I will use justice and goodness \{to show what is right\}.

Their legs were straight. Their feet looked like cow’s feet. And they sparkled like polished brass.

The man walked east with a tape measure in his hand. He measured 1,000 cubits. {\cf2\super [464]} Then he told me to walk through the water at that place. The water was only ankle deep.

I saw something that looked like fire. \{It looked like a man’s body.\} From the waist down, he was like fire. From the waist up, he was bright and shining like hot metal {\cf2\super [59]} in a fire.

His feet were like brass that glows hot in a furnace. His voice was like the noise of flooding water.

Then I was given a measuring rod as long as a walking stick. I was told, “Go and measure the temple {\cf2\super [80]} of God and the altar, {\cf2\super [81]} and count the people worshiping there.

The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod made of gold. The angel had this rod to measure the city, its gates, and its wall.
