Ezekiel 26:1

Easy To Read Version

In the eleventh year \{of exile\}, {\cf2\super [210]} on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me. He said,

And on the ninth day of the fourth month in Zedekiah’s eleventh year, the wall of Jerusalem was broken through.

One day, some of the elders (leaders) of Israel came to me to ask the Lord for advice. This was on the tenth day of the fifth month (August), of the seventh year \{of exile\}. {\cf2\super [138]} The elders (leaders) sat down in front of me.

I will punish those people—I will get even. I will let my anger teach them a lesson. Then they will know that I am the Lord!”

“Son of man, {\cf2\super [211]} Tyre said bad things about Jerusalem: ‘Hurray! The city gate protecting the people is destroyed! The city gate is open for me. The city (Jerusalem) is ruined, so I can get plenty of valuable things out of it!’”

And all your wealth will spill into the sea.\par Your wealth—\par the things you buy and sell—\par will spill into the sea.\par Your whole crew—\par sailors, pilots, and the men who\par put caulking {\cf2\super [230]} between the boards\par on your ship—\par will spill into the sea.\par The merchants {\cf2\super [231]} and soldiers in your city,\par will all sink into the sea.\par That will happen on the day\par that you are destroyed!\par

The word of the Lord came to me. He said,

On the twelfth day of the tenth month (January) of the tenth year \{of exile\}, {\cf2\super [239]} the word of the Lord my Master came to me. He said,

On the first day of the first month (April) in the twenty-seventh year \{of exile\}, {\cf2\super [243]} the word of the Lord came to me. He said,

On the seventh day of the first month (April) of the eleventh year \{of exile\}, {\cf2\super [251]} the word of the Lord came to me. He said,

One day I (Ezekiel) was sitting in my house, and the elders (leaders) of Judah were sitting there in front of me. This was on the fifth day of the sixth month (September) of the sixth year \{of exile\}. {\cf2\super [58]} Suddenly, the power of the Lord my Master came on me.

I can see that Ephraim is leading his children into a trap. {\cf2\super [95]} Ephraim brings out his children to the killer.

The Lord says these things: “I will definitely punish \{the people of\} Tyre {\cf2\super [18]} for the many crimes they did. {\cf2\super [19]} Why? Because they took an entire nation and sent them as slaves to Edom. {\cf2\super [20]} They did not remember the agreement they had made with their brothers (Israel).

\{And this message is against\} Hamath which borders Hadrach’s country. \{And this message is against\} Tyre and Sidon, even though those people have been so wise and skillful.
