Nebuchadnezzar took the people that were still alive back to Babylon and forced them to be slaves. Those people stayed in Babylon as slaves until the Persian kingdom defeated the kingdom of Babylon.

God, you are my God.\par And I want you so much.\par My soul and my body thirst for you,\par like a dry, weary land with no water.\par

God gives lonely people a home.\par God takes his people out of prison.\par They are very happy.\par But people who turn against God,\par will stay in their hot prison.\par

“‘Your mother is like a grapevine\par planted near the water.\par She had plenty of water,\par so she grew many strong vines.\par

I will lead you into a desert \{like I did before\}. But this will be a place where other nations live. We will stand face to face and I will judge you.

\{If she refuses to stop her adultery,\} I will strip her naked. I will leave her like the day she was born. \{I will take away her people\} and she will be like an empty, dry desert. I will kill her with thirst.

The Lord became very angry and upset at them. So he took them out of their land. He put them in another land, where they are today.’
