You have put those wicked people here.\par They are like plants with strong roots,\par they grow and produce fruit.\par With their mouths, they say that you are near and dear to them.\par But in their hearts, they are really far away from you.\par
Nebuchadnezzar was the king of Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar appointed Zedekiah as king of Judah in the place of Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim. Zedekiah was a son of King Josiah.
Then Nebuchadnezzar made an agreement with a man from the king’s family. Nebuchadnezzar forced that man to make a promise. So this man promised to be loyal to Nebuchadnezzar. Nebuchadnezzar made this man the new king of Judah. Then he took all the powerful men away from Judah.
The eagle broke the top out of the big cedar tree (Lebanon) and brought it to Canaan.\par The eagle set down the branch in the town of businessmen.\par
The seeds grew and became a grapevine.\par It was a good vine.\par The vine was not tall,\par but it spread to cover a large area.\par The vine grew stems,\par and smaller vines grew very long.\par
The water made the tree grow.\par The deep river made the tree tall.\par Rivers flowed around the place\par where the tree was planted.\par Only small streams flowed from that tree\par to all the other trees of the field.\par
So that tree was taller\par than all the other trees of the field.\par And it grew many branches.\par There was plenty of water,\par so the tree branches spread out.\par
