Ezekiel 16:15Easy To Read Version\{God said,\} “But you began to trust in your beauty. You used the good name you had and became unfaithful to me. You acted like a prostitute {\cf2\super [121]} with every man that passed by. You gave yourself to them all! See the chapter |
\{God says,\} “Look at Jerusalem. She was a city that trusted and followed me. What caused her to become like a prostitute? {\cf2\super [12]} She does not follow me now. Jerusalem should be filled with fairness. People living in Jerusalem should live the way God wants. But now, murderers live there.
Then you get in those beds\par and sin against me by loving\par those gods.\par You love those gods,\par You enjoy looking at their naked bodies.\par You were with me,\par but you left me to be with them.\par You hide the things that help you\par remember me.\par You hide those things\par behind the doors and door posts. {\cf2\super [443]} \par And then you go and make agreements\par with those false gods.\par
“If a man divorces his wife,\par and she leaves him\par and marries another man,\par can that man come back to his wife again?\par No! If that man went back to that woman, {\cf2\super [14]} \par then that land would become ‘dirty.’\par Judah, you acted like a prostitute\par with many lovers (false gods).\par And now you want to come back to me!”\par This message was from the Lord.\par
“Maybe I will tell a good person that he will live. But maybe that good person will begin to think that the good things he did in the past will save him. So he might begin to do bad things. But I won’t remember the good things he did in the past! No, he will die because of the bad things he begins to do.
The judges in Jerusalem accept bribes\par to help them decide who wins in court.\par The priests in Jerusalem must be paid\par before they will teach the people.\par People must pay the prophets\par before they will look into the future.\par And then those leaders expect the Lord\par to help them. They say,\par “The Lord lives here with us.\par So nothing bad will happen to us.”\par
Again the people of Israel did things the Lord said are evil. They began worshiping the false gods Baal [93] and the Ashtoreth. [94] They also worshiped the gods of the people of Aram, the gods of the people of Sidon, the gods of the people of Moab, the gods of the people of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistine people. The people of Israel left the Lord and stopped serving him.
