Then the Lord said to Abram, “You should know these things: Your descendants will live in a country that is not their own. They will be strangers there. And the people there will make them slaves and do bad things to them for 400 years.
Moses said to the Lord, “You told me to lead these people. But you did not say who you would send with me. You said to me, ‘I know you very well, and I am pleased with you.’
\{I will tell you the things I did!\}\par I sent Moses, Aaron, and Miriam to you.\par I brought you from the land of Egypt.\par I freed you from slavery.\par
I have seen my people suffer much in Egypt. I have heard my people crying. I have come down to save them. Come now, Moses, I am sending you back to Egypt.’ {\cf2\super [135]}
So Moses led the people out. He did powerful things and miracles. {\cf2\super [138]} Moses did these things in Egypt, at the Red Sea, and then in the desert for 40 years.
This is what God said to him: ‘Your descendants {\cf2\super [123]} will live in another country. They will be strangers. The people there will make them slaves and do bad things to them for 400 years.
But I will punish the nation that made them slaves.’ {\cf2\super [124]} And God also said, ‘After those things happen, your people will come out of that country. Then your people will worship me here in this place.’ {\cf2\super [125]}
Then Samuel said to the people, “The Lord has seen what happened. The Lord is the One who chose Moses and Aaron. And he is the one who brought your ancestors [112] out of Egypt.
“Jacob went to Egypt. Later, the Egyptians made life hard for his descendants. [113] So they cried to the Lord for help. The Lord sent Moses and Aaron. Moses and Aaron took your ancestors out of Egypt and led them to live in this place.
