Then Shecaniah son of Jehiel, one of the descendants of Elam, spoke to Ezra. Shecaniah said, “We have not been faithful to our God. We have married the people living around us. But, even though we have done this, there is still hope for Israel.
Now, listen to me. Let me give you some advice. And I pray God will be with you. You should continue listening to the problems of the people. And you should continue to speak to God about these things.
If you do these things, Lord willing, then you will be still able to do your job. And at the same time, the people can go home with their problems solved.”
Moses chose good men from among the people of Israel. Moses made them leaders over the people. There were rulers over 1,000 people, 100 people, 50 people, and ten people.
Even wise people should listen to these words. They will learn more and become even wiser. And people who are skilled at solving problems will gain even more understanding.
