The next day, Moses had the special job of judging the people. {There were very many people,} so the people had to stand before Moses all day.

Jethro got some sacrifices [122] and offerings to honor God. Then Aaron and all the elders (leaders) of Israel came to eat with Moses’ father-in-law Jethro. They all ate together there with God.

Jethro saw Moses judging the people. He asked, “Why are you doing this? Why are you the only judge? And why do people come to you all day?”

Then a new king will come.\par This king will be from David’s family. {\cf2\super [167]} \par He will be loyal.\par He will be loving and kind.\par This king will judge fairly.\par He will do things that are right and good.\par

“The teachers of the law and the Pharisees {\cf2\super [327]} have the authority (power) to tell you what the law of Moses says.

If a person has the gift of comforting other people, then that person should comfort. If a person has the gift of giving to help other people, then that person should give freely. If a person has the gift of being a leader, then that person should work hard when he leads. If a person has the gift of showing kindness to other people, then that person should be glad to do that.

And this is why you pay taxes too. Those rulers are working for God and give all their time to the work of ruling.

Pay attention you people riding on white donkeys, sitting on saddle blankets, [44] and walking along the road!
