“God made people as a copy of himself. So any person who kills a person must be killed by a person.

“You must not murder anyone.

“And if one person kills another person, he must be put to death.

The man asked, “Which commands?”

\{But I will answer your question.\} You know the commands: ‘You must not murder anyone, you must not do the sin of adultery, {\cf2\super [127]} you must not steal, you must not lie, you must not cheat, you must honor (respect) your father and mother….’ {\cf2\super [128]} ”

\{Why do I say this?\} Because the law says, “You must not do the sin of adultery, {\cf2\super [136]} you must not murder anyone, you must not steal anything, you must not want things that belong to other people.” {\cf2\super [137]} All these commands and all other commands are really only one rule: “Love other people the same as you love yourself.” {\cf2\super [138]}

God said, “Don’t do the sin of adultery. {\cf2\super [6]} ” {\cf2\super [7]} The same God also said, “Don’t kill.” {\cf2\super [8]} So if you don’t do the sin of adultery, but you kill a person, then you are guilty of breaking all of \{God’s\} law.
