Then they did something to the men outside the door—they caused all those evil men, young and old, to become blind. So the men trying to get in the house could not find the door.
Why? Because I will do new things! Now you will grow like a new plant. Surely you know this is true. I really will make a road in the desert. I really will make rivers in the dry land.
The Lord says,\par “At the time this happens,\par the king and his officers\par will lose their courage,\par the priests will be scared,\par the prophets will be shocked.”\par
The prophets and priests walked around\par like blind men in the streets.\par They had become dirty with blood.\par No one could even touch their clothes\par because they were dirty.\par
‘Listen, you people that doubt!\par You can wonder, but then go away and die;\par because during your time,\par I (God) will do something\par that you will not believe.\par You will not believe it,\par even if someone explains it to you!’”\par \i (Habakkuk 1:5)\i0 \par
“The Lord will punish you with boils, like those he sent on the Egyptians. He will punish you with tumors, sores that run, and an itch that can’t be cured.
In daylight, you will have to feel your way like a blind man. You will fail in everything you do. Again and again people will hurt you and steal things from you. And there will not be anyone to save you.
“All these things I have said will happen to you. You will have good things from the blessings, and you will have bad things from the curses. The Lord your God will send you away to other nations. Then you will think about these things.
Then Joshua read all the words from the law. Joshua read the blessings and the curses. He read everything the way it was written in the Book of the Law [44] .
